FRIENDSHIP

Introduction:

“Society, Friendship and love

Divinely bestowed upon men,

Oh! Had I the wings of a dove

How soon would I taste you again!” – William Cowper

Friendship is a tie of love between two people. It is a natural union of two hearts. It binds two hearts together. It comes through association.

Why man need friends:

Man is a social being. He cannot live all alone. He wants the company of some like-minded persons. He wants someone to share his joys and sorrows equally. He wants to discuss his problems with someone who is faithful to him and who loves him. So, a man needs a friend. A Friendless man becomes an object of pity.

Who is a true friend:

“A friend in need is a friend indeed”- thus goes the saying. A true friend is a blessing to us. He always stands by us. He never deserts us in our distress. He is ready to sacrifice everything for us if needed. We can rely on him for any secret of our life and discuss it with him freely. From a true friend, we get inspiration to face even the toughest situation of life boldly. He always gives us good advice and wishes our good. Thus, a friend who loves us selflessly is unmistakable a true friend.

Dangers of evil company:

We must be careful in choosing our friends. Sometimes, enemies and crafty people come in disguise of friends. They are with us only in the days of our prosperity. But when we fall into some trouble, they may not be there to stand by us. Such friends are called ‘fair-weather’ friends. A false friends always think of our downfall. He tempts us to do evil deeds and make us harm. It is said that an open enemy is better than a pretended friend. So, we should not make friendship with people who are by nature wicked, selfish and dishonest.

My experience of friends:

I have both sweet and bitter experiences of friends. I have some friends who are true to me. We share our joys and sorrows equally. We are ready to help each other if and when needed. But once I had some false friends also. They did me great harm. In their company, I formed many bad habits. But the timely intervention of my true friends made me realize my mistake and I give up the company of my false friends along with the bad habits learnt from them.

Conclusion:

Friendship is a divine gift. Every person, therefore, must have some true friends without whom life becomes dull and charmless.
